The Week at a Glance:

Monday - Majomi Street Dancing in the hall
Tuesday - Instrumental Ensemble in the hall
Wednesday - African Drumming and Dancing in the hall
Thursday - Chinese Brush Work in classes
Friday - Quilting groups in the morning and a Celebration Assembly in the afternoon in the hall

Main Projects addressed in classes:

1) Photo Competition

“Colours of the World”

Children could, either, make up a design or picture on the theme of “Colours of the World” and then photograph it with the class digital camera. Some children just found a part of the school to photograph which they felt fitted in with the theme. Some lovely work was done and the winning entry from each class won pack of wax crayons, some watercolour pencils and some pencil crayons.

2) Artist study

Teachers chose a favourite artist and a favourite work. The children looked at the techniques and the skills of that particular artist and then tried to produce a similar piece either individually, in groups or as a class. Van Gogh and Monet were favourites and others were Picasso, Lowry and Miro.Again some lovely work is now on display and children have obviously extended their understanding of these artists and their styles.

3) Canvas Collages

Each class were given a canvas to use to make a collage of very small items of the same colour. It was amazing to see what a broad range of things that the children brought in from home and the variety of ideas in the collages. They should make a striking display in the hall.

Class Colours:

Reception = red
Year 1 = orange
Year 2 = yellow
Year 3 = green
Year 4 = blue
Year 5 = purple
Year 6 = gold

The Centre children made traffic light collages of red, amber and green. Look at them in the centre entrance hall.
