PACT is a registered charity formed by parents, friends and staff of the Cage Green Centre for Autism at Cage Green Primary School. The objective is to raise funds to support children at the school who have a diagnosis of autism, and to assist in the provision of facilities and equipment for the Centre. Yearly fundraising events include stalls at the Summer and Christmas Fairs, Easter Raffles and Cake Sales, Christmas Card Sales (designed by the children at the Centre), and the and Dragon Boat Racing at Bewl Water.
If you are a parent of a child at C.G.C.A. you are automatically a member of P.A.C.T. so do think about getting involved! The more successful we are in our fundraising the more your child will benefit as all money raised goes directly towards extending the opportunities and facilities available to the children. Sometimes this will involve buying small items for the classrooms or equipment for the playground, but sometimes P.A.C.T. thinks big, which is why, in 2005, the Centre was delighted to take delivery of a mini-bus, presented by the Variety Club of Great Britain.

More about PACT Meetings and Coffee Mornings
P.A.C.T meetings are held once every term and are a good way to keep up-to-date with what is going on at the Centre. If evening meetings are difficult for you then how about coming along to one of the coffee mornings, details of which are circulated from time to time. These provide an opportunity for parents to get to know each other a little better and to exchange information and advice, and just to have a general natter!
If you would like to find out more you can either speak to your child’s class teacher, or contact one of the Committee Members via the Centre.
NEWS
Units and Designations Review June 2007
The Units and Designations Review remains the hot topic of the day. KCC are undertaking a major policy review across the county. Please look out for further details sent home via your child’s book bags. The minutes of the PACT meetings will also give you further information. If you need any further information please contact Stephanie Hobin.
Horse riding June 2007
Over the last year or so a handful of children from the Centre have been taking riding lessons on a Thursday afternoon at the Bradbourne Riding School at Sevenoaks. From September the set up changed so that the lessons became a Class 1 activity. We are sure that the children are deriving a great deal of benefit from this stimulating physical and social activity, and not least of all that get to ride in the mini-bus!

FORTHCOMING EVENTS
Dragonboat Race at Bewl Water
Saturday 15th September 2007
Once again PACT will be taking on the challenge of the Dragonboat Race at Bewl Water in September. Details about how you can become involved will be circulated in due course. The event is extremely worthwhile and is a very good source of fundraising for the Centre. In September 2006 PACT Pirates took the water and rowed like the wind to raise an amazing £2,500 - many thanks to those who sponsored members of the team and everyone who rowed. On the day itself more than £400 was raised through face painting and a lucky dip ‘Pirate’s Treasure Chest’ (which also proved to be extremely popular at the Christmas Fayre) – thanks to those who manned the stalls. A big thank you must also go to Louise Dupont for taking up the mantle last year and spurring the team into action, and good luck to Stephanie Hobin who has the task this year!
